Rates & Studio Policy
Miriam’s studio is located in the Fraserview area of Vancouver. Rates for individual voice, piano and theory are $20.00 for 30 minutes or $40.00 for 60 minutes.
Number of Lessons
Students can choose to have just one lesson or weekly lessons. It is definitely better to commit to taking lessons for a certain period of time since consistency is important and no one can become a star singer or piano player in one lesson. One lesson per week for 1 to 2 months is recommended minimum. A 5% discount is available if you book weekly lessons for 1 months or more.
Payment
For one-time lessons, payment is due at the end of your lesson in cash or by cheque. If you book your lessons per month, payment for the entire is due at your first lesson of the month. For example, if you have lessons for October, payment for all 4 lessons would be due during the first week of October.
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel a lesson for which you are booked, please give 24 hours notice or you will be charged for the lesson. Exceptions to this are illness. If Miriam needs to cancel a lesson, it will be made up.
Music
Most voice lessons focus on vocal technique and song repertoire. Most students prefer to choose the music that they sing. Students should supply his/her own music although Miriam has a selection of music. Music can either be sheet music or recorded music. She also provides Royal Conservatory Examination preparation and she encourages students to participate in the Kiwanis Festival whenever possible. For beginner piano lessons, Miriam usually works with the Piano Adventures series depending on the age of the student. Miriam can purchase these books for you with her teacher discount.
Performances
Miriam hosts a recital/party for her students in November and June of each year. All students, friends and family are welcome to attend. Each student gets to play and/or sing a song of his/her choice. Refreshments and chocolate treats are provided.
