November News

Halloween is over and I have to write that Halloween is better with kids. We took both Benjamin and Daniel trick or treating for the first time and they loved it. We had to run to keep up with Ben. Of course, we didn't go far and we're eating most of the candy; we are responsible parents, after all! We live in a predominantly South Asian neighbourhood and Halloween and Diwali occur within a fews days of each other which means an almost nightly fireworks display. Ben was growling with delight!

In music news, first up is the annual Christmas House at the Michaela Davidson Art & Gift Gallery in Lake Cowichan, BC on Fri. Nov. 4 and Sat., Nov. 5. I will be singing and playing Christmas carols live by request. Come, shop, have a yummy or two and request ANY Christmas song. If I don't know it (highly unlikely), I will learn it if I have the music. Seriously, this event is the event on Vancouver Island to attend.

The Laudate Singers will be very busy the following week with the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the cenotaph in North Vancouver. Then, on Sat., Nov. 12 at 8:00 pm at the Norman Rothstein Theatre in Vancouver we will be part of the Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra's (VICO) 10th Anniversary concert. If you have never heard the VICO, definitely check them out because it's a musical experience unlike any other - and that's for the listener. As a singer, I feel lucky to be a part of their concerts by singing in Laudate.

The Encores lunch music gig at the Shadbolt Centre with pianist Joel de Stefano was a success. It was wonderful to work with Joel and I'm looking forward to working with him more in the future. We may have two gigs this month but I'll post those on the blog when they are confirmed.

No doubt, there will be many Christmas gigs to post in the coming weeks. 'Tis the season to make music! Folow me on Twitter @miriamjdavidson. Until my next blog post.
